Keeping Up

Sometimes we want to cuddle up with our kids and hold the book, admiring the images, and really, we just love to feel the paper under our fingertips as we turn each page. But other times we feel too tired to get into character and our heart's greatest desire is to snuggle up with the little ones and enjoy the story along side them. I was studying the nimbleness of raccoons for the next Super Piggy book, when I found the cutest video on raccoons! By the way, an opening line that I am sadly not going to be able to open with, reads like this: It was the raccoons who started it this time.   Not by digging holes into the attics the way everyone originally thought they'd do, but by conducting a kind of neighborhood watch.   You know, the kind where they watch to see when you leave so they can empty out your place. Anyway, I came across this video, and it's just too adorable.  Enjoy!

Good point, right? If you have to invent all of your own material, you'll end up sacrificing one of the more important tools of being able to reach a child: time and patience .   That's why Teachers Pay Teachers is such an incredible find!  It's not about teachers earning a little extra for the work they put into inventing their particular wheel (although a teacher deserves a this padding to make up for the Economic inequality) .  It's really about reaching your students  using tools they can relate to.  They love the new Dark City books? Denise, After speaking with you, I wanted to tell you why I decided to homeschool Stephen.   You asked me if I ever regret my choice, and I have to be honest, there are days he tires me out and I want to enroll him back into public school.   But then I take a break and realize how far he has come in our homeschool journey.   He is already so much healthier in both his self-esteem and his determination to learn.   My decision began with him complaining about bullying at school, and that worried me.   It worried me even more when I realized that not only was the school not dealing with it, but Stephen was actually learning from these experiences.   He was learning how to bully others.   I was so embarrassed when I witnessed how he was losing friends because he was using inappropriate social behavior to get his way.   That is not the child I spent so much time and love raising!   It had to stop.   So I began looking into what I c...

With the use of Gallery Furniture's over-sized chair, Stephen comically acted out the five stages of grief.  Although he was pretending he had just discovered he had been shrunk to 1/4 his size, I thought it also illustrated the stages we parents go through to get a male child out the door for a day of "boring" shopping.   So, we got into the car and... Aside from buying furniture -  and yes, monkeys, I did mention monkeys - it was an educational trip, as well. I loved the huge tree slice they had, with the many rings listing historical events that occurred during the growth of those rings.
